Lost Pet Network

A tag that reaches you without showing your number

A collar tag with a scannable code that opens your pet's page. The finder messages you on the spot, and your phone number is never engraved for strangers to read.

FOUND ME? IMLO.ST/K7M2QX4P

The five-minute reunion

Most pets that get out are picked up by a neighbor within a few streets of home. If that neighbor can reach you in a minute, the story ends there. A tag makes that possible. Without one, the page and the flyer do the same job more slowly.

How you set one up

  1. Tags ship with a code already on them, ready to scan.
  2. The first scan sets it up: make your pet's page, or link the tag to a pet you already registered.
  3. Every scan after that opens the page as it is that day: a quiet profile on an ordinary day, the lost page if your pet is missing.

A second collar or a harness can have its own tag. Link as many as you like to one pet: they all open the same page, and your dashboard lists them. Nobody else can see which tags belong to your pet.

Honest limits

Collars slip off and tags wear down. The tag is the fast path, and the page is the backup that needs nothing on your pet at all. Use both.

Questions about tags

How does the tag work?
Each tag carries a code and a short imlo.st link. Scanning it with any phone camera opens your pet's page, where the finder can message you without seeing your phone number.
Does the tag carry my pet's page address?
No. Each tag has its own short imlo.st link, which opens your pet's page once you have scanned it the first time. Two tags for the same pet carry two different links that open the same page.
Can two tags carry the same link?
Not standard tags. We plan to offer matching tags as an option that costs more: engraved to order with your pet's existing link, and their name if you like.
Does the finder need an app?
No. Any phone camera opens the page in the browser. The short link is also printed on the tag for phones that do not scan.
What if my pet loses the collar?
Then the tag cannot help, which is why the page does not depend on it. A lost page with photos, a flyer and sightings works with nothing on your pet at all.
Can someone look up my pet by guessing codes?
No. Codes are random, not numbered in sequence, so one code tells nobody anything about another.
What happens to the tag if the service shuts down?
Your pet's data can be exported at any time, and the imlo.st address that tags point to will be handed to a nonprofit or shelter if Lost Pet Network ever winds down, so tags keep working.
