One update. Every place the link was shared changes with it.
The news gets scattered
When a pet goes missing, you post everywhere you can think of. Each post ends up with slightly different details, and sightings come in as comments, texts and calls. People will still comment where they saw your post. But when every post links to one page, anyone can report a sighting there, and one change from you reaches every place you shared it.
- Neighborhood app post the first photo, before you found a better one
- Facebook group last seen on Tuesday, not where they were seen today
- Group text forwarded twice, so you can't correct it
- Flyer on the pole can't change once it is taped up
- One page instead the latest photo, sighting and status, wherever it was shared
Four steps, start to finish
-
Make the page in a few minutes
Photos, a description, and where your pet was last seen, or where they live if they are safe at home. You only need an email at the end.
-
Share one link everywhere
Neighborhood apps, Facebook groups, texts, and a printed flyer with a code that opens the page. You post it yourself, once per place.
-
Get sightings in one place
Anyone who sees your pet can report it from the page in under a minute, with no account. You see every sighting together, on a map.
-
Mark them home, once
When your pet is back, one tap changes the page. Every post, text and flyer that points to it now shows the good news.

A flyer that stays current
Your page makes its own flyer, ready to print. The code on it opens the live page, so a flyer taped up on day one still tells people the truth on day ten: where the latest sighting was, and whether your pet is still missing.
- No phone number to tear off, misread or scam.
- Readable short link for people who photograph the pole instead of scanning.
- Tear-off tabs along the bottom.
If someone finds your pet first
Pets slip out when nobody is looking, and a neighbor can be holding yours before you know they are gone. If your pet is registered here, the finder has a way to reach you.
-
Step 1
A neighbor finds a cat on their porch
They report it here: what it looks like and where they found it. No account needed.
-
Step 2
They see registered pets nearby that fit
Matched by species, color and area. Registered pets show up only here, never in a list anyone can browse.
-
Step 3
They message you through the site
You hear by email and reply from your dashboard. Your phone number and where you live are never shown.
It only works for pets registered before they get out. It takes a few minutes, and it is free.
A tag for the five-minute reunion
A collar tag with a code that opens your pet's page. Whoever finds your pet scans it and can message you on the spot, without your phone number being engraved on metal for anyone to read.
Collars come off, which is why nothing here depends on one. The tag is optional, and the page is the backup: everything else works without it.
Public where it helps. Private everywhere else.
Public lost-pet posts attract reward scams and worse. Here is what strangers can and cannot see.
- Your phone number is never published
- Finders and neighbors reach you through the page. Nobody can copy your number off a flyer or a post.
- Your address is never shown
- The page shows a general area about a kilometer across, never a pin. Location data is stripped from your photos.
- Rewards stay private
- A posted reward invites people who claim to have your pet and ask for money first. Mention it once you are talking to a real finder.

Questions
The short answers. All questions
Do I need a microchip, a collar or a tag?
No. Nothing needs to be on your pet. You make a page with photos and a description, and the page does the work. A microchip is still worth having, and a tag gets your pet back to you faster, but neither is required.
My pet is already missing. Is it too late to sign up?
No. You can start a page after your pet is gone. Fill in the details and photos first and only give an email address at the end, and the page is live a few minutes after you start.
My pet is safe at home. Why register now?
Because someone may find your pet before you know they are out. A finder who reports a pet here sees registered pets nearby that fit, and can message you, but only pets that are already registered can show up. It is also the better time for photos: calm day, good light, a pet who will sit still. The page is not listed anywhere and cannot be browsed. If your pet ever goes missing, one short form turns it into a public lost page with everything already in place.
Is it free?
Yes. The page, the printable flyer, sighting reports and messages from finders are free, and there is no paid tier that shows your pet to more people. Optional collar tags will be a paid extra when they launch. There are no ads.
Will my phone number or address be shown?
No. Your phone number and email are never published. People who find or see your pet contact you through the page. Your address is never shown either: the page shows a general area about one kilometer across, not a pin.
How is this different from posting on Facebook or Nextdoor?
You still post there, and you should. The difference is that you post one link instead of rewriting the details in every group. Sightings from every group arrive in one place, and when your pet comes home you update one page and every post that links to it shows the news.
What if my pet has no distinctive markings?
Add several photos from different angles, and describe size, coat, behavior and where your pet was last seen. Location and timing narrow things down far more than markings do: a plain black cat seen two streets from home the day after it went missing is a strong lead.
What happens to my tag if the service shuts down?
We will not promise a number of years. Instead there is a mechanism: your pet's data can be exported at any time in a documented format, and if Lost Pet Network ever winds down, the imlo.st address that tags point to will be handed to a nonprofit or shelter so that tags keep resolving.
Start the page now. Fix the details as you go.
