You found a pet. Thank you for stopping.
Here is what to do, in order. The first step takes ten seconds.
-
Check for a tag
If the collar has a tag with a code or a imlo.st link, scan it or type the code below. It opens the pet's page, where you can message the owner right away.
-
Keep the animal safe and calm
If it is safe to do so, bring the animal somewhere enclosed with water. Do not chase a frightened animal: note where it is and which way it went.
-
Get a free microchip scan
Any vet clinic or animal shelter can scan for a microchip in a minute, usually at no charge and without an appointment.
-
Report it here
Tell us what you found and where. We check it against pets registered nearby, including ones whose owners may not know they are out, and show you any that fit.
-
Report it locally
File a found-pet report with your city or county animal services. Rules for found animals vary by place, and a report protects both you and the owner.
No tag? Report what you found
Two minutes, no account. You will see any pets registered nearby that fit, and can message the owner.
Does the tag have a code?
Type the 8 characters printed on the tag.
If someone asks you for money or a code
A real owner will describe their pet in detail and will not ask you for a payment, a gift card or a verification code. If something feels wrong, stop replying.
